When Should You Send Your Save-the-Date Cards?

One thing that you should add to your to-do list is preparing your save-the-dates. Of course, besides the wedding location, reception, and other preparations, it is essential to give your guests enough prior notice about the wedding. You don't want to send it too far in advance as there is a chance for your guests to forget about it. On the other hand, if you send it too late, your guests might not have enough time to prepare for it and make arrangements to be there or request time of work. In that case, I thought my guidelines for when you should send one would be helpful to you. Have a look!

Why Should You Send Your Save-the-Dates?
It is still necessary to hand one out to your guests to give them a glimpse or feel of what your wedding will be like. Plus, it's a creative way to make your guests excited for the upcoming event. Your family and friends will appreciate it and even show it off it to everyone. Another thing, there might be other couples getting married on the same day; so sending save-the-dates will reserve your guests for you. So, don't forget to send these lovely designs in time!

What To Do Before Sending Save-the-Dates
Before you send one, there are some things you need to do:

  1. First, you need to know the guests - who will receive save the dates. Finalize your immediate guest lists first so that you don't miss out on anyone.

  2. Second, you need to ensure that your wedding location and reception are final, including your date. You don't want to cause any confusion for your guests if the printed date and place on the save-the-dates turns out to be incorrect. Not to mention how much effort it can be to send out a revised version.

  3. Last but not least, decide whether mailing save-the-dates or delivering them by hand works best for you and your guests. If it is more practical to hand them out yourself, do so. If you are like me, you love getting things that aren't junk mail in your mailbox and so will your guests, so mail them!

When Should You Send Save-the-Dates?
As recommended, make sure your save-the-dates go out around six to eight months in advance. Any later than that and your guests might not have enough time to prepare. Six to eight months is just enough to prepare your guests if they still need to book a flight and hotel, take days-off work, save money, or other agendas. On the other hand, mailing save-the-dates earlier is also not advisable. Let's say you send them a year and a half in advance. As a result, this will not excite your guests in the longer run. There is also a high chance they will forget about it, and it won't get their attention. Giving out your save-the-dates should be done accordingly because there might be changes in the wedding registry, date, and specific location along the way.

To sum up, planning to send out save-the-dates for your wedding is essential. If you want your guests to look forward to your upcoming wedding, then you better send one within the recommended timeframe. It's a way to let your guests know that they should save the day to celebrate with you. Also, it will show your appreciation for them. So, it is always better to get creative in order to leave a lasting impression. If you want a fabulous save-the-date design, get in touch with me!
